A myth we often hear is that governing with Policy Governance® means no board committees.
That thought can make a board nervous about whether to use Policy Governance. After all, a board may have a number of committees that offer board members and others additional ways to contribute their expertise to the organization. Furthermore, boards often don’t have the time to do all the work that is needed to govern effectively. Elimination of board committees could mean a major burden on the board.
The good news is that boards using Policy Governance can have board committees. However, such committees need to contribute to governance in a productive way.
